ADVISORY 001/May/2016 Category: Suspicious Approach Description: On 16 May 2016 at 0512 UTC in position 14 45.0N 050 58.0E, an MV reported that five skiff’s approached to 0.5 cables. Skiffs were black/brown in colour with between 3 to 5 POB, ladders were sighted.MV’s security team fired warning shots and MV took evasive action. Skiffs then opened between 1 and 2.5 nm. New Delhi: The Indian Navy, with the help of its long-range anti-submarine warfare aircraft, has thwarted a "piracy" attempt in the Western Arabian Sea, 800 nautical miles off Mumbai, targeted at a merchant vessel.
