1. A chart serving to highlight the concentration of Pattern of Life sightings since the beginning of the year. As previously suggested this activity is most likely attributable to improved weather conditions drawing out local fisherman and those engaged in regional trade.

Merchant vessels transiting this area should note the sighting of Dhows towing multiple skiffs or clusters of small boats operating closely together are not uncommon and may at first sight, appear suspicious.

Masters are requested to report any activity that appears suspicious or aggressive in nature to UKMTO.

2. EUNAVFOR/NATO/CMF has released their latest ‘Industry Releasable Piracy Threat Assessment off Somalia’, dated 10 Mar 16.

3. The next Maritime Information Exchange Vessel Operators’ Meeting (MIEVOM) will take place at the Dubai International Seafarers’ Centre (DISC) on Thursday 21 Apr 16.
