Command Overview

1. On 25 Oct 16 an MV reported coming under attack 5nm from the southern entrance of the Bab el Mandeb TSS. The MV reports being approached by x 1 small boat with x 3 occupants and fired upon with small arms. The motive for this incident and those who may have been involved are the subject of ongoing investigations. The vessel continued its voyage towards Suez, crew are safe (UKMTO Advisory 7 and updates, page 3). 2. After 4½ years in captivity 26 crew members of the fishing vessel Naham 3 were released this week having been hijacked close to the Seychelles in March 2012.
