Merchant Vessel approached by Skiffs in the Red Sea - UKMTO Advisory 001/ Dec 16

ADVISORY NOTICE 001/DEC 2016

1.            Category: Irregular Activity.

2.            Description: On 23 December 2016 at 1905 UTC in position 15 45.7N 041 18.1E, an MV reported three skiff’s had approached the MV. The closest skiff got to 100m. MV’s security team fired warning shots, and 3-4 flashes of light were seen from the skiffs. Crew mustered in citadel and MV took evasive action. Skiffs moved away. MV is safe.
