Safety at Sea Piracy Survey - @Tanya_Blake @IHS4SafetyAtSea

Safety at Sea magazine wants to hear from you, the seafarer, about the most important issues impacting crew today.

This month's survey is on piracy. The 2017 annual International Maritime Bureau Piracy report revealed that piracy and armed robbery against ships has reached a 22-year low, with 180 incidents reported last year. Despite the decline in attacks, the same piracy hot spots remain, with the majority of attacks occurring in Indonesia, Nigeria, the Philippines, Venezuela, and Bangladesh. Meanwhile in Asian waters ship attacks have sharply risen by 19%, compared to the previous year, according to ReCAAP. We want to look beyond the statistics to find out what piracy threats seafarers are experiencing in their day to day working lives at sea and how it impacts not only their work but their well being. All information you provide will remain anonymous.

The results from the survey will appear in the March issue of Safety at Sea. The questionnaire will close on the 25th January.
