1. Please note that the date of the next Shared Awareness and De-confliction (SHADE) conference has been moved to 20 - 21 Nov 18 and will take place in Bahrain. Therefore the UKMTO Maritime Information Exchange Vessel Operators Meeting (MIEVOM) will now take place in Dubai on 29 Nov 18. A calling notice for the MIEVOM will be issued in Sept 18.

2. The Royal Navy handed over command of Combined Maritime Forces (CMF) Combined Task Force 150 (CTF 150) to the Royal Saudi Navy during a ceremony at CMF Headquarters in Bahrain on 9 Aug 18. CTF 150’s principal mission is to deter terrorism, narcotics and charcoal smuggling, along with other illegal activity in the maritime environment across the Arabian Sea, Gulf of Aden, Somali Basin and Southern Red Sea and it is of particular note that this is the first time any Gulf nation has undertaken this role (a).

3. On 30 Jul 18 Brazil became the 33rd nation to join Combined Maritime Forces. This addition to the CMF coalition gives them a representative on every inhabited continent meaning they are now a global maritime task force (b).
