On the 22nd of September 2018 at 0505 UTC, a MV was attacked by armed pirates, in position 03°45’32N 006°43’01E. The vessel has now been released and has headed into port.

MDAT-GOG comment: This event refers to warning Notice 001/SEP/2018 and 001/SEP/2018 UPDATE 01.



313/6nm off Pointe Noire Anchorage(Republic of the Congo)

On the 25th of September 2018, at 0100UTC, two men in orange coveralls with knives were spotted by the crew who raised the alarm. The robbers managed to escape with ship’s properties.

200/106nm off Bonny (Nigeria)

On the 25th of September at 1151 UTC, in position 02°45’55N 006°39’19E a MV was approached by 1 speed boat with 7 people on board. Shots were fired in the vessel’s direction.

Attacked was thwarted by the arrival of a local security vessel. Crew & vessel are SAFE.
