Douala Anchorage, CAMEROON
On the 30th March 2019 at 2140UTC, an MV (NAME WITHHELD), while at anchorage, was attacked in position 03°53’N 009°30’E (15nm South/West of Douala, Cameroon). Investigations into this incident by the Navy are still on going. Vessel is reported secure.
MDAT-GOG comment : This event refers to ADVISORY NOTICE 002/MAR/19.
Apapa, Lagos, NIGERIA
On the 31st March 2019 at 0020UTC, while departuring from Apapa in position 06°24N – 003°23E, an MV (NAME WITHHELD) was approached by a small skiff with 6 POB. They attached a ladder to the MV to board the MV, one crew member spotted the ladder and raised the alarm. The skiff left the MV. Ship and crew are reported safe.
MDAT-GOG comment : This event was reported time late report so neither an Advisory notice nor a Warning was released.
112/04NM off Takoradi, GHANA
On the 29th March at 0236UTC, 3 people boarded an MV (NAME WITHHELD) at Takoradi port anchorage. As soon as they were spotted by the duty officer the alarm was raised and they left the MV in a small craftt. Vessel and crew were reported safe.
230/09NM off Lagos.
Lagos STS Area, NIGERIA On the 30th March 2019 at 0310UTC, at Lagos STS Area, a duty watch keeper on roving patrol noticed one person on board the MV near a cargo tank and another person was hanging onto the railing. When the watch keeper raised the alarm, they both jumped into the water and left in a boat. There were approximately 7-8 persons visible in the boat. A patrol boat came to assist the MV (NAME WITHHELD).
Vessel and Crew were reported safe
