200°/60NM from Bonny, NIGERIA
This event is an update of attack that occurred on 1st December and which was already in Weekly Report 48-17. At 09:00Zhrs in position 03°28N – 006°50E, a merchant vessel was attacked and boarded by at least 6 pirates.Captain is alleged to have been abducted.

90°/5NM from Takoradi, GHANA
At 02:00Zhrs in position 04°54N – 001°42W, a merchant vessel anchored at Takoradi anchorage was boarded by one person, five others were waiting in two nearby boats. A fire hose, computer and monitor were reported missing. A navy patrol boat was dispatched to the area.

180°/50NM from Bonny, NIGERIA
At 05:30ZHrs in position 03°31N – 007°07E, a merchant vessel was approached by a wooden boat, fishing type, with 8 armed POB wearing masks. An attempt to board the vessel with a ladder was aborted due to evasive manoeuvers anti-piracy actions. Vessel and crew are safe.

180/110NM from Bonny, NIGERIA
At 19:05ZHrs in position 02°32N – 007°01E, a merchant vessel enroute at a distance of 110NM from the nearest shore was approached by 2 fast boats closing to a distance of 300 yards. Suspicious vessel aborted the chase when merchant vessel executed evasive manoeuvers and anti-piracy measures.
